“Leaders who are committed to improving their performance must commit to growing as individuals, becoming increasingly more competent, self-aware, and conscious.”

Mastering Leadership: An Integrated Framework for Breakthrough Performance and Extraordinary Business Results by R. Anderson and W. Adams

Being a leader today is not only a huge responsibility, but also a very difficult feat.

Did you know that only 5-10% of leaders are seen as fulfilling the “promise of leadership”… accomplishing both the expressed (known) expectations for their roles as well as the unspoken expectations that stakeholders have of them (like fair treatment, listening, engagement, inspiration, direction, etc.)?

While we may have a very personal desire to make a difference and be impactful as leaders in our organizations, more and more we are knowledgeable of what it actually takes for leaders to truly feel and be effective. With nearly 7 out of 10 American employees disengaged on the job, now more than ever we must be ever present of our internal and external drivers, strengths, weaknesses, beliefs, and assumptions, and how they affect us and those we lead. We must lead ourselves before we can effectively and positively lead others.

Only 5-10% of leaders fulfill their promise of leadership.

As a whole-person leadership development practitioner I have seen and experienced disengagement firsthand. I have worked in both toxic and expansive environments, and personally experienced catabolic leaders (and workplaces) who drain their own energy and the energy of their people. The great news is that catabolic environments and leaders can be transformed—one person and team at a time.

I work with leaders and leadership teams to help them awaken and make these transformations as leaders in their workplaces, and mostly, as leaders of their lives. If you would like to explore the ways I can work with you and your organization to ignite your leadership, please contact me.
